How are they used

1

The Metro stations are always marked with the international “M” symbol placed beside the station access ramps.

2

Those without a ticket may purchase one from the automatic ticket machines and pay with cash (coins or bills), cash card or credit card.
The ticket is valid for a one way journey on the subway and up to seventy minutes on tram and bus.

3

Having crossed the ticket barrier one descends onto the mezzanine where one chooses one’s direction of travel (towards Porta Nuova or towards Fermi).

4

Having reached the platform one awaits the arrival of the train, the outline of the carriages appears behind the automatic doors.

5

Once the automatic doors open, exactly opposite the train doors, one climbs aboard having of course let the other passengers off first.

6

Sound and luminous signals warn of the doors closing, and then the train takes off again.

7

The route diagrams placed above the doors mean one can check ones journey: stop by stop.

8

A prerecorded message announces the name of the upcoming stop.

9

When the train enters the station and the name of our stop appears on the walls of the platform, one gets ready to step out.

10

The escalators lead directly to the hall, and after having crossed the exit barrier, one is back in the open air once more.
